The combination nanovaccine was capable of inducing protective immunity in as little as 14 days PI that persisted out to 182 days PI. Inclusion of CDNs improved antibody responses towards Fl-V and improved survival in mice vaccinated with nanoparticles. This work demonstrates the benefits of encapsulating Fl-V into nanoparticles along with the enhanced immune responses provided by CDNs in order to design next generation vaccines that can protect against lethal pathogens.
