Conclusions: The nanometric hydroxyapatite covered implant surface promoted an up-regulation in ALP, RANK-L, OPG, OPN, OCA and RUNX2 gene expression, mainly in an impaired bone repair model (diabetic rats) and especially during the early healing period (7 days after implant insertion), when compared to acid etched or machined surfaces.
