This paper highlights the performance and design of a novel full bridge front-end converter with a combined self-sustained phase shift modulation controller (SSPSM). The proposed controller is a combination of traditional self-sustained oscillation control (SSOC) and phase shift modulation (PSM). It is capable of significantly reducing the frequency variation range necessary for zero voltage switching (ZVS). As a result, the converter enjoys better efficiency together with lower components rating. Analytical solutions provide main design guidelines for a case study. Finally, simulation and experimental results are given to highlight the merits of the proposed work.
