A GOOD UNDERSTANDING of the sugarcane milling operation is very important for correct selectionof the mill drive planetary gearbox.Understanding the mill operation in terms of the absorbed torque at variable speed, shocksinduced by foreign objects entering between rollers, chocking of the mill and start-ups under load isnot an easy task, so combined knowledge of sugarcane milling technology and gear technology is ofparamount importance.
