Two configurations of welded joints of low carbon steel to Nibasedalloy 625 were studied: 1. Lap joints with the processingperformed through the low carbon steel plate. In the case, thewelds were performed using three different rotational speeds(300, 350 and 400 rpm) at a constant travel speed of 100mm.min~(-1). 2. Butt joints were welded at a constant weldingspeed of 100 mm.min~(-1), rotational speed between 250 and 300rpm, and tool offsets between +0.5 and +3.63 mm. Defect freedissimilar lap and but joints with impeccable finishing involvinglow carbon steel and alloy 625 were produced. Herein, thewelding parameters development and optimization along withdetailed microstructural characterization of the different jointzones are presented.
