摘要

In this work, several industrial codes that are available for assessmentof pipeline failure pressure were evaluated with respect to the grade ofpipeline steels and the geometry of corrosion defect. A novel, finiteelement-based CX model was developed to simulate the complexstress/strain conditions exerted on high-strength steel pipelines due tothe synergism of internal pressure, soil strain and local stressconcentration at corrosion defects. The effect of mechanicalelectrochemicalinteraction on the steel corrosion was determined bothmechanistically and quantitatively for reliable prediction of thepropagation of corrosion defects.
