H.264 and Bit Sliced Audio Coding (BSAC) for video and audio compression provide high compression rate for Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB). On the other hand, these techniques cause high cost and power consumption problems in the terminal due to high decoder complexity. To solve these problems, this paper proposes DMB over Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system where users can access DMB contents on Windows Media Players connected to WLAN. The system receives the DMB signal transmitted by broadcasting stations, decodes the H.264 and BSAC coded information, performs transcoding to Windows Media Player format, and then transmits the data by multicasting using the conventional WLAN.
