After years of effort by our research group, a CFD code has been developed to simulate the combustion flow field in a gas turbine combustor. Large eddy simulation (LES) is used to simulate the turbulent unsteady flow in the combustor. In order to treat the interaction of turbulent and combustion, a flamelet/progress variable (FPV) approach was added to our code. A series of numerical calculations have been carried out for validating and verifying the capability of turbulent combustion modeling and simulation. Results from these methodologies and various subgrid scale (SGS) models are presented.
