The near-infrared emission of low phonon (805 cm-1) germanate glasses from GeO2-Ga2O3-BaO system co-doped with 0.7Yb2O3/(0.07-0.7)Ho2O3 ions has been investigated. Luminescence at 2.1 μm corresponding to 5I7 → 5I8 transition in holmium was obtained by energy transfer between Yb3+ and Ho3+ ions. The highest value of the luminescence intensity was obtained in glass co-doped with 0.7Yb2O3/0.15 Ho2O3. Glass co-doped with 0.5Yb3+/0.4Tm3+/0.05Ho3+ co-doped glass is characterized by broad emission at 2 μm (FWHM=343 nm).
