Part Ⅸ: ISER Session Summary on 'Applications to the Life Sciences'

摘要

The session on "Applications to the Life Sciences" consisted of papers from several different areas ranging from biological microrobots to robotic system for breast biopsy under continuous magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). There were a total of five papers presented in this session after Robert D. Howe provided the introduction to this session. Yang et al. in the paper titled: "Towards the Development of a Master-Slave Surgical System for Breast Biopsy under Continuous MRI", describe their initial work on the development of a teleoperated master-slave surgical system under MRI guidance. MRI compatibility results of the slave robot are also presented in this paper and the slave robot has been shown to be MRI compatible.
