Shipboard systems will continue to be asked for more data and have greater connectivity to the ship wide network. However, with this operational necessity comes greater security risks. Systems networked together allow for cross system risks and human threat vectors are more likely from good actors than bad. Fortunately, the rise of Ethernet based automation systems allow for significantly less complex network design and operation. In addition, advanced Ethernet security techniques can be applied to protect assets from network threats, good, bad, intentional and unintentional. Finally, advanced PAC providers offer important, effective and easily deployable systems with enhanced security features. The combination of these features can result in layered and scaled security profile for your shipboard machinery.
