DC zonal electrical distribution systems (ZEDS) require the ability to locate a single ground fault, because a second ground fault may result in equipment damage and loss of power [1]. Hardware and software for a ZEDS that includes autonomous ground fault detection and location (GFDL) has been fully developed and tested. The GFDL removes the burden on ships force of periodically checking for ground faults and manually locating them. This paper presents test results and lessons learned.
