The extending phenomenon of vegetation community caused by seismic exploration of Shengli Oil Field has been found in the many areas of the Yellow River Delta. The spatial structure of vegetation community is believed to have an influence on the landscape pattern and functions of wetland ecosystem. Numbers, areas, shapes and locations of vegetation community patch are the important parameters for vegetation function and structure researches. In this paper, Vegetation community patches with the different spatial shapes are extracted from SPOT 5 high spatial resolution fusion images using Circular Hough Transform (CHT). The total detection accuracy of the patches is about 89.4%. The experiments show that CHT is simple and effective for detecting vegetation patches from the SPOT 5 high resolution fusion images.
