Mono-band radars have been extensively employed for several applications. As a result, a plurality of commercial prototypes aimed at different sensing scenarios can be encountered. A further step in the radar field implies the simultaneous exploitation of multiple frequency bands to attain improved capabilities. In this paper, distinct architectures for continuous-wave dual-band radar design are reported. The usual linear-frequency-modulated waveform is adopted for the two operative bands of these solutions, which are analyzed from a hardware perspective. Also, some equations are derived and illustrative simulations are carried out to evaluate their performances with/without analog deramping. Finally, important conclusions, which should help in the development of these modern radar systems are emphasized.
