The article aims to present the dynamic power transmission management system and the operator's benefits following from the application of that system. A system based on dynamic line rating improves the efficiency of the use of existing overhead transmission lines, as well as contributes to increasing the efficiency of power system planning and further development. The presented system allows to increase energy supply safety as well as provide ancillary service to optimise the schedule of transmission grid maintenance or repair activities. Interaction with dynamic line rating systems gives on-line control of the operating conditions of generation sources, also taking into account the levels of allowable generation in wind or photovoltaic farms. Continuous control of line load by measuring and forecasting the temperature of the wire and determining the sag can ultimately improve the grid operational security. The article covers an investment efficiency analysis of the dynamic transmission management of the system implementation regarding transmission line upgrading costs or removing system limitations on the balancing market.
