A novel bearingless flux-switching permanent magnet (BFSPM) motor is proposed in this paper. Its suspension force windings, permanent magnets (PM) and armature windings are in the stator, while there is no PMs or windings are in the rotor. Firstly, its motor configuration and radial suspension force operation principle are introduced. Then, its static characteristics such as torque and radial suspension forces are investigated by 2-D finite element analysis (2-D FEA). Finally, the decoupling performance on the relationship between radial suspension force and torque is deduced in theory. It can be concluded that the proposed motor has the excellent decoupling performance.
