Air pollution is a major issue facing the world nowadays. Many human activities and severalindustries have contributed to this problem. Oil refinery is an example of that and different airemissions are emitted. Examples of these emissions are; SO_2, NO_x and CO. Various studies havebeen conducted for air pollution control from previous decades, but no researches were extendedabout selecting air emissions control methods for oil refinery units considering, simultaneously,cost and efficiency of the control options. The aim of this study is to determine suitable controltechnique for oil refinery with two objective functions including minimization of cost and airemissions according to environmental standards. Genetic Algorithm approach is used to select anoptimal control technology for each air emissions considered. The model is applied into a casestudy to show its application.
