This paper presents the comparative performances analysis of an Outer Rotor Synchronous Reluctance Machine (ORSynRM) and an Outer Rotor Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Machine (ORPMASynRM). Both machines represent good candidates for electric propulsion of small electric vehicle like e-bike, e-scoter, etc. The weight of the machine is very important in any domain of use, but especially in electric propulsion of small electric vehicles. This paper proposes to reduce the weight of the rotor in order to increase the power density of the machine. Also, for the investigation of the ORPMASynRM's performances two different material for permanent magnets, NdFeB and Ferrite, are used. The aim of the study is to maximize the mechanical (average torque, torque ripple) and electrical (power factor) performances. Thus, the analysis is based on analytical and finite element methods to compare machines performances.
