With enormous demand for wind energy worldwide, application of doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbines has proliferated in wind power plants in recent years. However, utilization of DFIG-based wind farms integrated with series compensated lines may lead to a particular type of subsynchronous resonance (SSR) called subsynchronous control interaction (SSCI). This paper, concentrates on exploring the best compromised control criteria along with analytically investigating the impact of other factors such as wind speed, effect of the inner current converter controller parameters, turbine parameters, and network compensation level in order to mitigate SSCI. To this end, in this paper a complete dynamic model of the system, based on IEEE first benchmark, is provided and the detailed results are achieved by modelling of the system in MATLAB. Additionally, due to transient behavior of the SSR phenomena the same system is also modeled and tested in DIgSILENT/PowerFactory. The obtained results provide a tangible view over the installation of DFIG wind farms interconnected to series compensated grid for industry.
