Traditional algorithms of HF burst signal detection and synchronization acquisition usually can't work well under low signal noise ratio (SNR). Aiming at the character of HF channel, a reliable synchronization acquisition scheme for HF channels based on spectrum analysis method was obtained by modulated m-sequences pilots to get some dispreading gains. The integer and fractional frequency shift can be estimated synchronously by peak value of the spectrum function and phase difference of adjacent pilots. Matlab simulation shows that the proposed timing and frequency synchronization algorithm works well at low SNR over HF multi-path fading channel for both OFDM system and MIMO OFDM system.
