Applications of microsystem technology in digital beamforming SAR system

Compared to traditional analog beamforming synthetic aperture radar system, digital beamforming synthetic aperture radar with highly flexible beamforming and high precision phase and amplitude control capabilities shows great potential in high resolution and wide swath imaging, anti-jamming applications. Therefore, digital beamforming SAR is playing a more important role in earth observation. The realization of digital beamforming SAR system relies on the development of highly integrated microwave and digital circuits and high speed information transfer. Microsystem technnology, which combines electronics, photonics, MEMS etc. opens up broad prospects for the application of digital beamforming SAR system. In this paper, applications of microsystem technnology in digital beamforming SAR system are introduced and some evolutions are demonstrated. Moreover, further research directions of microsystem technology in digital beamforming SAR system are proposed.
