This research presents a unified framework for dynamic traffic assignment and signal control.System optimal based objective function is considered with an embedded traffic flow model (thecell transmission model). The objective function explicitly considers intersection delay and losstime due to phase switches in addition to traditional travel time objective. Two test networks areused to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model. Results show better performance ofthe models when compared to pre-timed signal plans. Further, results obtained from the modelsprovide variation of cycle length for different objective functions.
