In this study, undrained shear strength (s_u) of normally consolidated organic silts andoverconsolidated silty clays in Marquette interchange project were predicted from the resultsof a number of pressuremeter tests. The pressuremeter tests conducted in Marquetteinterchange site were also simulated using two-dimensional (2D) axisymmetric finite elementmethod. The Cam-Clay model was used to simulate the soil behavior. The finite element modelsgave smaller s_u in comparison to the conventional method. Agreement between the predicteds_u from finite element models and measured s_u from triaxial test results on undisturbed soilsamples emphasizes the significance of pressuremeter geometry and soil model on theinterpreted s_u from pressuremeter test results.
