摘要

On May 12, 2008, the earthquake had a magnitude 8.0 and the epicentre was in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, which locates in the southwest of China occurring at 06:28:01.42 UTC. The Wenchuan earthquake damaged over 71,000 dead persons and huge numbers of people have been and continue to be affected earthquake influence. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images provide useful information for many applications, such as oil slick pollution monitoring, flooding, natural disasters and ground change detection. Especially, in the time series everts SAR technique has powerful capability due to its independence from the all weather and all time conditions. Therefore, using SAR imagery for disaster management and damage assessment in urban and rural areas is an important application of SAR. In this paper, disaster effected area detection and damaged area size calculation is presented based on the difference of the intensity value of each SAR data which have a different ground condition in same area.
