Due to its geographical location, Songkla is extremely vulnerable to a wide range of coastal hazards, particularly sea level rise brought about by climate change. Such an extreme event presents a threat to the coastal area development strategies by destroying coastal infrastructure and productive capacity, interrupting economic activity, and degrading coastal environment. This study aims to assess the potential impacts of sea level rise on the coastal area of Songkla. A static 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 m rises in sea level were simulated using a Digital Terrain Modeling (DEM) constructed from Real Time Kinematic (RTK), generating GIS data for comparing with present sea level. Results showed that, with the case scenario of 3 m. rise in sea level, more than 82% of the study area would become completely inundated. Results obtained information under sea level rise scenario simulated in this study is vital for the adoption and implementation of adaptation measures to address the potential impacts of sea level rise in the future.
