The objective of this research work is the development of reliable and practical means to opticallymonitor coal gasifier flames. This sensor technology is expected to allow better control of coalgasification process and predict burner wear and need for replacement. The paper presents the results ofGTI sensor testing performed at Wabash River Coal Gasification Repowering Plant located in West TerreHaute, IN.
