摘要

I will sum up practical experience after a pilot course held at the Oslo University College of Applied Sciences in Norway from September 2011 till January 2012. The title of the course "Language and communication for education and work" (SKOMP) emphasizes the themes communication and language. The teaching objective was to integrate these subjects into one. Thus making the students emphasis shift from mere language learning to learning how to use the language to their benefit in different settings, in different ways. The course also had exercises where we explored the possibility of difference in culture at workplaces and higher education institutions in Norway and other countries. This to broaden the students meta look at themselves and others in different professional situations.
