AGRO-ENERGY CHAINS AND ENERGY POTENTIAL FROM DEDICATED CROPS, AGRICULTURAL AND AGRO-INDUSTRIAL RESIDUES: THE COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TWO SOUTH EUROPEAN REGIONS IN A 2020 PERSPECTIVE

摘要

The objective of this paper is to present and apply two different methodological approaches for theassessment of the biomass resources and their territorial availability in two South European rural regions: (a)Capitanata (IT) (b) Thessaly (GR). The corresponding energy potentials and the integration of the biomass basedenergy applications into the regional energy systems will be also discussed. Scenarios about future development ofthe agro-energy sector, customized according to the specific characteristics of each region, will be reported within a2020 time-frame. Throughout this process the identification of the similarities and differences of the two regions isaimed, in order to map the potential framework for creating the environment in which biofuel and bioenergy projectscan be appropriately developed.
