AGRICULTURAL BIOGAS SECTOR IN POLAND –POTENTIAL AND NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN THE LIGHT OF THE LATEST REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

Agricultural biogas sector in Poland has a vast potential that has been recognized by the central as wellas local governments of the country. The on-going legislative process will result in the adoption of three new lawsincluding the Renewable Energy Sources Act, the Energy Act and the Gas Act. On the eve of the entry into force ofthe new legislation the paper takes an in-depth insight in those regulations that will impact the agricultural biogassector development in Poland. Special focus has been given to the support measures, grid connection procedures aswell as feedstock and activity status. Agricultural biogas production is still a vulnerable activity within the Polishenergy market, dominated by the centralized conventional energy utilities. The challenge of promotion the dispersedsources of renewable energy starts in normative adaptation of a vast spectrum of regulations.
