Global limit load solutions for thick-walled pipes with circumferential internal/external surface and through-wall defects under combined tension, global bending and pressure are obtained based on the von Mises yield criterion. Elastic-perfectly plastic 3-D FE analyses show that the solutions obtained in this paper agree reasonably well with the FE results and are conservative.
