We investigated an azimuthal liquid crystal (LC) anchoring on stacked SiO_2 screening layer, where the underlying polyimide (PI) was rubbed but the stacked SiO_2 layer was not rubbed. As decreasing the thickness of the SiO_2 layer, the azimuthal LC anchoring was increased due to van-der-Waals interaction of the underlying PI.
