This paper presents a new method for calibrating the flow field of a hypersonic nozzle with air as working medium at Ma=5~8 under total temperature of 800K, in which the ratio of densities upstream and downstream of a normal shock wave induced by a Pitot tube is measured to calculate the local Mach number of the flow field. Feasibility of this method is theoretically testified in details. The technical problems to be solved before realizing the new method are discussed too.
