The presented work analyzes the staging dynamics and the trajectories of a multistage rocket based on the direct coupling of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Flight Mechanics. The flight mechanics module of DLR TAU code is improved to simulate the complex staging sequences, such as the free motion of the two separated stages and the transients of ignition process of the motor. This work focuses on the dynamics and trajectory analysis of the staging process. It is the first step of the project. The severe aerodynamics environment of the staging will be analyzed in detail in a further step.
