New Data Sources for 21st Century Traffic Adaptive Control

摘要

Traffic adaptive control systems have been implemented with limited success over the past 30years as a way to deal with increasing pressures of traffic congestion. Existing traffic adaptive systemsemploy a combination of technologies and algorithms in an effort to increase efficiency. These efforts havebeen limited by the data used to populate the models and measure their success. A new generation of trafficsensor is now available which provides a new a more comprehensive view of network flow and health.
