LED Performance and Cost Approaches Inflection Point for Consumer Lighting

LED sources have rapidly developed in both cost and performance over the last 2 years and next year will achieve the tipping point that enables the first high volume consumer retrofit bulb applications. LEDs are already established in Professional indoor, Outdoor and Office Lighting as a result of either high color quality and/or from the high efficacy resulting in cost of ownership savings. This talk will focus on the major trends in cost and performance that are driving this and the trade offs (efficacy, cost, color stability and lifetime) between the current major applications and the high volume consumer bulb market.
