Titanium alloy possesses excellent comprehensive properties and it has been widely used in various fields. Due to its small thermal conductivity, low specific heat and active chemical property features, etc,titanium alloy material is hard to process. Conventional powder metallurgy can overcome this problem, but it is difficult to produce complex parts. Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) has been used to near-net-shape forming titanium alloy powders complex parts recently. In the present research, the powder produced by plasma rotating electrode process was near-net-shape formed into cross-shaped parts by hot isostatic pressing directly under the HIPing parameters of 950°C/110MPa/3h. The microstructures of different places of the as-HIPed samples were investigated using optical microscopy. The distribution of the density of the cross-shaped parts was investigated by measuring the densities of different places. Results showed that cross-shaped parts without surface defects can be obtained, without defects such as macr oscopic elemental segregation,crack or porosity.
