The flow behaviour of an α+β titanium alloy,Ti-6246,during uniaxial hot compression deformation at temperatures in the α+β two-phase region and at a temperature in the (3 single phase region was investigated. Axisymmetric compression tests were undertaken for a range of temperatures of 850,900,950 and 980°C and strain rates of 0.1,1. 0 and 10 s1,respectively. The resultant data were then used to analyse and evaluate the flow curves. Constitutive equations for high temperature flow stress were then employed to determine the deformation activation energy,Q. As expected, true stress increases as strain rate rises or the deformation temperature decreases. Dynamic recrystallisation was also observed to occur due to the presence of stress peaks in flow curves. A general relationship between peak stress and Zener-Hollomon parameter is then expressed.
