An approach for estimation of integrated reliability indices and maintenance intervals of fiber-optic communication lines

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the strain impact on the reliability of optic-fiber communication lines. The reasons of strain appearance in optical fiber are discovered and two models, analytical and simulation, are proposed for the estimation of the integrated reliability indices of fiber-optic lines. The results, obtained by means of the models, can be used for the estimation of recommended maintenance intervals of the considered telecommunication lines.
