Taken together, transplantation of pESCs restored cardiac performance by differentiation into myocardial-like cells and enhanced neovascularization possibly through paracrine secretion of pro-angiogenic factors. Cardiac dysfunction and adverse ventricular remodeling caused by MI was attenuated by pESCs engraftment, which clearly stated the potential therapeutic application of pESCs in ischemic heart diseases and pESCs transplantation may represent an effective and safer strategy for autologous cell therapy in females.
