摘要

Hydroxyapatite monoliths have been manufactured using an extrusion process adapted from production of ceramic exhaust catalysts. They exhibited strength in line with cortical bone which is exceptional given their high bulk porosity. All samples supported the proliferation of MG63 cells and there was evidence that paste with a combination of large and small HA particles led to greater cell numbers. It is expected that calcium phosphate based extruded monoliths will provide a possible alternative to autograft and allograft for large structural bone defects.
