Fabrication of porous tantalum structures with total porosities between 55% and 65% have been successfully demonstrated by polyurethane foam impregnated. The results suggested that the porous tantalum was similar to the structure of cancellous bone, and the mechanical properties of porous tantalum also was similar with human bone.
