This study demonstrates that growth factor release can be sustained for extended durations when BMA, BMC, or GF's are mixed with the hard setting, porous calcium phosphate carrier (CarriGen) as compared to similar mixtures with a pure collagen sponge, or a β-TCP/collagen foam carrier. CarriGen's ability to retain growth factors may be additionally enhanced by it's favourable mechanical strength over the sponge or foam type carriers.
