The coating of TiO_2 nanotube arrays with superhydrophilic-superhydrophobic patterns on transparent substrate was successfully fabricated in sequence by means of RF sputtering to deposit Ti film, anodization to produce TiO2 nanotube arrays, immersion in 1% vol. PTES solution to introduce the PTES SAM and UV irradiation for constructing the specific patterns with markedly difference in wettability. The cell culture experiment demonstrated that Hela cell showed a greater affinity to superhydrophilic area on which the trapped air bed was absent, indicating a notable biocompatability and functionanlity of TiO_2 nanotube arrays in biological research.
