Two types of strontianite modified CaP bone cements were prepared by addition of or substitution with SrCO_3. While only the substitution of CaCO_3 by SrCO_3 lead to improved material strength, proliferation rates and osteogenic differentiation of hMSC was found to be higher on both types of Sr modified materials, suggsting those as beneficial for the treatment of osteoporotic bone defects.
