Comparative Evaluation of BMP-2 and FTY720 for Bone Regeneration in Critical Size Cranial Defects

We show that FTY720 shows better bone growth by recruiting MSCs and increasing vascularization of the defect area. This presents us an alternative therapy for critical size bone regeneration. Also, this provides additional support for the cell based vs. factor-based therapy- suggesting the site of defect area dictates different approaches. While the later might be sufficient for tibial defect healing, it is not appropriate for cranial defects.
