The air jet smoke prevention system may install in front of openings or fire doors to prevent the smoke spread into the clean areas and stairs for evacuation. The mechanism of air jet smoke control system is blowing air from the linear vents which installed on both sides of the wall to prevent the smoke spread from fire sites along the corridor to a clear environment in the stairs. A full scale test corridor is conducted to measure the CO_2 and temperature profiles under different design parameters. The smoke prevention efficiency and operational parameters are examined experimentally in this study. The system has the advantages for using in the hospitals and nursing homes with large number of inconvenient evacuees that will cause fire door or smoke curtain and other smoke devices unable to close during the evacuating process.
