摘要

A pseudo-discrete optimization technique for tall steel building design using standard steel sections is presented in this paper. The objective is to minimize the structural material cost of tall steel building frameworks subject to lateral stiffness constraints. Optimal discrete standard member sizes are automatically selected from a database of commercially available standard steel sections. The optimal design problem is first formulated and solved in a continuous manner and a pseudo-discrete section selection procedure is then devised to ssign discrete section sizes to finalize the design. A 60-storey 7-bay building steelwork example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the optimization technique for solving practical design problems.
