R D COOPERATION PATTERNS IN INNOVATIVE COMPANIES

Advances in research of the innovative process in business have allowed us to understand the shifting of this process in recent years from a closed to an open outline. To understand the regularities of development of cooperation in R & D organizations as a central element sets this development at the center of this analysis. However, empirical evidence has shown that organizations are located in different places within both worlds, the closed and open, and that's why understanding common patterns in terms of cooperative R & D has taken great relevance in the field of studies. The main objective of this paper is to establish common patterns of cooperation in R & D in manufacturing companies with innovation activity and present them in an analytical model useful to understand and better manage the R & D process of these companies. The empirical analysis sheds as a main result 9 common behavioral patterns of cooperative R & D activity in the companies; CNABI, CAICE, CTIC, COCUSA, CCLINE, COCPUE, COSEUSA, COCOJA, CSEMGEU1 that explained 65.2% of the total sample variability. Due to the nature of these patterns and the interpretation of factor loadings, a model of analysis is constructed that allows gathering them into groups under two categories: i) the nature of cooperating agents, and ii) the geographic location of cooperating agents.
