Xiaojiang Water Transfer Scenario which is one of the water transfer projects studied in the recent years is planning to transfer water from the Three Gorges Reservoir to the Weihe River,a tributary of the Yellow River,with the dimension of 4 × 109 ~ 10.3 ×109 m3 annually.Starting with the analysis on the water demand-supply situation of the Yellow River Basin and the water demand due to the economic and social development,this paper studies the water shortage problems of different regions in the Yellow River Basin and the possible solutions and measurement as well.Based on the characteristics of water resources allocation and management and the project routine,the Supply Regions of Xiaojiang Water Transfer Scenario is determined.Through studying the water use of sediment flushing for Lower Reaches of the Weihe River and the Yellow River,analyzing the water demand-supply situation,the requirements of the Supply Regions is studied.The Supply Target of the Xiaojiang Water Transfer Scenario put forward is to supplement the eco-environmental water use of Lower Reaches of Weihe River and Lower Reaches of Yellow River,and to increase the base-flow for sediment flushing and eco-environment of river channel.
