@@In the recent years, the interest on flameretardants (FRs) used in Polypropylene (PP) has been focused on the intumescent flame-retardants (IFRs), due to halogen-free, low toxicity, absence of dioxins and low smoke occurring in fire accidents. In general, the intumescent formulations contain three main ingredients, namely acidic source, carbonization agent and blowing agent. Because ammonium polyphosphate (APP) can be used as an acid source and a blowing agent at the same time in IFR system, APP is helpful for composite to form foamed char. This will not only improve the utilization of flame retardants, but also enhance the economic efficiency and achieve the optimization of process control.
